Saturday the 26th of November, over 50 children from Killankulam came to the IFC
center to celebrate my 33rd birthday.
We were very lucky that the party could go on; two days before we had the whole
land flooded and all the cows were staying in the temple.
Luckily, the day before the cows could go back to their own house and we could
clean the temple and prepare it for the party.
The boys who live here decorated the temple with balloons and garlands and it
looked beautiful.
The children who came that day could express themselves by drawing with the many pencils that
came from Holland last year and performing dances on their favorite music.
Some of the bigger girls decorated the area around the agni pit with colorful
Kolam
During all the fun in the temple Shri Param and Selvam, a lady from the village,
were working very hard in the kitchen to prepare a meal and special Indian
birthday cake.
Right in time everything was ready and all the kids sat down together singing
the "OHM" before starting the nutritious meal being served by the 5 boys
who are living here.
After that the children sat in little groups around a plate with small birthday
cakes lighting the candles and singing "happy birthday" for a couple of times
The boys living here bought me a beautiful sari, which by now I know how to tie.
I wore the sari when we went to Madurai in the afternoon to visit the Meenakshi
temple and officially start the pilgrimage with John and Gary the two people who
signed up for it.
